Well as some of you may know i have an encon four metal blade installed in my home, this was an original fan that came with the house, its not one i bought off the internet and installed myself. today it just stopped working so i took it down and hooked it to an extension cord directly, and it worked. then it got me thinking it may be something with the wall control. well soon enough after i hung it back to the ceiling and connected everything it worked fine again. ill post if it happenes again but i just want to know what would cause this? i checked all the wires and they were in tact. im surprised this would happen to that fan because its an original fan that came with the house so its been in the same room for over 25 years.

ok,cool & neat fan i can't have those kind of fan in my house for couple of reasons: (a) ceiling is low (b) my best friend is afraid of metal blades because it's dangeous of sharp moving blades

Do you have a voltmeter?
Do the blades turn freely by hand?
