well, last night in my room i was smelling some insulation burning. i assumed it was the old oscillating fan in there so i turned that off. next morning i still smelt it so i turned off the frasco and put my hand on top of the motor... i now have fasco motor vents imprinted in my blisters..... it still runs but the windings r black as toast.... i may part it out or try and get a new motor from fasco....

I guess them 40' fan blades overloaded the motor huh ;D

yes that would do it. Motor was going to slow, causing it to heat up.....

I hate to say 'I told you so' . . .
Perhaps a good opportunity for you to learn how to rewind a motor.

I would turn off the fan, and Re-Wire the Motor. Put a Picture of it on this Fourm.

Actually, the problem was the power resistors, not the motor windings itself, which is a relief.
As far as I can recall, Fasco was the only company of ceiling fans to use resistors instead of capacitors or coils. Many older desk fans used them. The get too hot, and in Brian's case, burn up.
