Folks, faithful free Bay Breeze took its last movement. The old spinner motor decided to make some funny popping noises and quit. Needless to say I was unhappy because I didnt see any sparks or other electrical fireworks. Since the fan is pretty much junk (free pile at reuse center) I will either part it out and/or destroy it somehow.

You could at least try to fix it or see what is wrong.

Do you have pics so we know what parts you have?

Interestingly enough, i was doing research on ceiling fan recalls last night (for obvious reasons) and I found out there were a number of Bay Breeze recalls . . . I think your fan was included.
Anyhow, here are the parts I usually save off such a fan:
capacitor(s) switches mounting bracket
occasionally: canopy switch housing cap switch housing blade brackets blades
This all assuming the motor windings are fried. If not, then I would probably fix it.

The fan smells like burned electronics. So I can only assume one of the windings blew. Espacally because it make a 'popping' noise. I WILL NOT SHIP THE FAN OR PARTS! Its not worth it. More than likely it will be chucked in the dumpster. And it was one of the recalled models

Did you check the capacitor? It could have burnt out, and I don't know why you won't ship the fan. I'm serious. I could fix the fan

Capicator is fine. The motor is toast. I tore it apart and looked. You can tell that some kind of activity went on inside the motor. Burn marks around one of the motor vent holes. And I ain't shipping the damn thing! THATS FINAL! Sunday night it will be on the curb.

If you want the parts that bad come down here and get em'! The blade arms are recalled, the blades are warped, the canopy has paint smudges on it....etc

Fine, Commit fanslaughter.
PS: What is so important about those Wal-Mart Mainstays Decor hugger fans anyway? I have a steel fan hanging in my basement with 21 other fans and it makes a hell of alot of noise. Too much noise for me to stand, that's why I rarely ever use it.

It was free ;D and its NOT a hugger! Its the 'Impressions' series. It works quite well but dosn't move as much air as you'd think.
