This post begins a series of advertisements from magazines dated between 1977 and 1983 that featured cool fans. Aside from the "normal" fans, these will hopefully uncover some more information on the background of these and more unusual fans... With these Hunters, note the prices and then punch them into a CPI Inflation Calculator. Some of these would sell for $1000 in today's dollars!!! Bell canopy Original, found in magazines from 1978 through 1980 or so: Standard Original ad: Southern Living, May 1977... one of the brackets is bent: Similar ad (same photo as above): Bell canopy Hunter from 1975... pay special attention to what it reads: Full color Olde Tyme ad (I believe this one's from 1979): From 1983 or 1984 I believe: From Periculum, whom I assume was a distributor but could be a relabel: More to come...

I WANT the Adaptaire with the tall skinny bell canopy!
What are we supposed to pay special attention to?
I am thinking Periculum was a copy, Hunter didnt have relabels to my knowledge, and note the canopy.

"The ceiling fan is suddenly the 'in' way to cool a room naturally." Thought someone would notice that since Hunter and Casablanca were largely responsible for the ceiling fan's return...

Not so much Hunter. Hunter never stopped making fans, when Casablanca became popular Hunter started dressing up originals to compete. When other companies started importing fans, Hunter introduced the Comfort Breeze to compete. Hunter, like Emerson, was basically a follower in the ceiling fan resurgence, despite those companies being the only two to already be making fans when Casablanca formed.

I have a National Geographic magazine from 1980 or 81 with the 2nd ad.
I also have some later 1980s magazines with 2 other Hunter ads.

Those are cool ads. I remember cutting some of those very ads out of my neighbor's old Southern Living magazines when I was little. The library at my college has stacks of magazine and journal archives, so i'll need to make some copies of fan ads myself.
