Several times throughout the year I go to visit my "in-laws" in Georgia. Needless to say whenever I visit different areas I scout out all possible areas for fans. There is one particular Habitat for Humanity Restore (resale store) I visit regularly outside of Atlanta. This Habitat always has piles (literally) of interesting fans. Unfortunately when I travel there I am either flying or in a very densely packed small car, and am only able to bring back a small number of the fans I find. Among those I've bought here:
1. Nutone early model Hacienda
2. Various Fasco Charlestons
3. Fasco Vanity Fair
4. Fasco/Patton Gillespie
5. Various Codep spinners
6. Plastic Emerson
Among those I've had to leave behind:
1. Assorted Evergo Emperors and spinners
2. Winnower Hunter Original copies
3. Various Fasco Charlestons
4. Fasco American Spirits
5. Carroway GE vent fans
6. Moss WF Series
And, of course, many other interesting and unusual fans.
I always think back and wish I had taken any number of these fans, especially when I find another collector would be extremely interested in one I had considered.
So here's the deal:
I am returning to Georgia for the Thanksgiving holidays, leaving early next week (Monday or Tuesday most likely) and returning the same time the following week. Habitat may very likely be closed Thanksgiving week/weekend but I will certaining be going as soon as they are open.
I will bring my digital camera with and take pictures of any fans they have there for sale. I will post the pictures on this forum or the Yahoo Group, and people can reply the same day requesting which fans I should pick up.
A few guidelines
1. Your word is bond. If you ask me to pick up a fan for you, be prepared to pay the shipping cost and, at minimum, the Habitat selling price ($10-20). Trades will also be considered. If you ask me to pick up a fan for you and then back out, you're making things very difficult for me and I will likely find a way to make things very difficult for you.
2. If you're interested, watch the forums closely and respond quicky. Assuming they're not open Thanksgiving week, I will only have two days, possibly even only one, to make two trips: one to take the pictures and one to buy the fans. If you're not watching the forums on that Monday & Tuesday, chances are you will miss out.
So, let me know, is there interest in doing this? It would be a fair amount of trouble for me, so there has to be a decent amount of interest.
