I'm about as worried about Facebook killing this forum as I am about DT or any other website doing the same. In other words, not at all. Like I've mentioned in the threads about people getting all worked up about the other site(s), each one has its advantages and disadvantages. Your argument is like saying that because I personally eat at Subway as much as or more than I do McDonald's or Wendy's, McDonald's and Wendy's are going to go out of business.
VCF, DT and the Facebook group all have a large number of posters. VCF has a more constantly updated gallery (and I moderate here so that is a plus) but it seems like we get more trolls and immature posters than anyone else. I seem to find more informational and all-around "helpful" posts on DT, and they dispose of trolls etc. quickly, but they haven't updated their galleries in years. The Facebook group is very easy to use and upload pictures to, and I'm on Facebook a lot anyway so it is convenient to switch over to. However there is no check on users' language, I'm not crazy about the number of "children" who post there, and then you have stuff like "anti-whoever groups" that form.
This thread is getting off-topic... seems to be a trend on this forum lately. Whoever wants to see any pics I've taken in Galveston should know where to find them by now.

Jean's only issue is that he is too proud to be a member of the Facebook group. He's not banned from there, although a few others who might like to see the pictures are.
For the most part I agree with JW. Another advantage of this forum is it gets the most non-collectors who have an old fan, via Google..
I try to post pictures here AND Facebook, because in Facebook not only can not everyone see them, but Google cant see them either.

Unfortunately I didn't see any signs indicating who was renovating or performing construction on the building; otherwise I'd be after those remaining two Grapeleafs. The other fans are still active in their "natural settings", where they should be anyway! Forgot to mention, there are 2 souvenir shops on the Galveston Seawall (overlooking the ocean) that used to be jampacked with both brown and white Laskos (most if not all ToC), as well as one antique Hunter that had been custom painted. Went back this year... gone-zo. :-( Galveston used to be a haven for old fans... unfortunately they seem to be disappearing fast. Does anyone know any Houston area collectors? If you don't do anything soon they will all be in a dumpster... WHERE THEY DON'T BELONG! I have an update. More fans are gone. What souvenir shops are you speaking of? I'm a Dallas collector but go to Galveston every so often.

Would have been nice to see pics or tell exactly which shops the fans are apparently gone from...
As far as the ToC's, they were in the old Murdoch's Bathhouse and whatever building was next to it (both on piers accessible from the Seawall). Both buildings were completely redone and an additional building connecting them was built over the water. The whole thing was then damaged significantly by Ike and had to be redone.
