Where to start... - Dark Cherry/Black Motor Housing - Had blades mounted on the side (like the Hampton Bay Windward), but was the size of a Casablanca Stealth. - Had some kind of swirled light glass. Not marble, but the actual glass had ridges in a swirl pattern. - Halogen Lighting - Was a hugger mount - It cost a lot. Bought at Builder's Square (or Home Quarters; can't remember, but it was one of those two) - I think it was a 52". Not sure on that - 5 blades
Oh yeah; it has since been replaced by something at Dan's Fan City.

A hugger fan with blades mounted to the side? Are you sure it was hugger, and not close-mount?

If I remember correctly, it was a hugger, although it's been 10 years since I've seen that thing, so it might have been a close mount. It had a body like a Hunter Innova, but it wasn't an Innova; too big to be one, plus, I don't think Hunter offered Cherry/Gloss Black as finish combo for the Innova.

Hunter made a model similar to what you were describing. It looked like the Sojourn, execept the bottom part of the motor was a big integrated light kit.

It wasn't a Sojourn, that I remember. Too tall to be a Sojourn (or now, Dimensions, even though the Sojourn is still being made; yay for inbreeding). It had a tall cylindrical mount like the Innova.
Oh yeah; it had pull chains. That I remember.
EDIT: Do you have a pic of the fan you described?

No, I dont. I think it was called the Enigma, or the integra. But if the motor was cylindrical it's not what I'm thinking.

Do you think it could have been a Hunter, even if it's not the model Hicks and I are thinking of? Any idea at all of brand?

Could it have been a Casablanca? The Venus sounds like what you described (don't know about the colors).

No idea of a brand. But I am intrested in this Integra. (And it was not an Enigma; it had 5 blades, not one ). Now that I think about it, Integra does sound right. I need a picture though. It was powerful; that's for sure.

The Integra was larger than 52" from what I recall, so I'm sure it moved some air. The motor housings was wider than it was thick, however, unlike the Innova.

Ooh, I think I've seen this fan before. It also had blades on the side, intergrated light kit, and is a hugger.

See if you can turn up a picture, or make/model information.

The integra plus, was 52'' and was available in four finishes, brass, antique brass, white and black. It used the same design as the sojourn and dimensions.
I have a (I actually have two, but one is missing a few pages) 1995 hunter catalog I got from hechinger. They sold a number of brands, such as hunter, encon, christina, and a few other misc. brands.
