I just acquired a country-blue finish 52" hugger from a guy that I work with. It has 5 cane blades. Model# is AC 652 and dated January of 1990.
It could well be either a Codep or Alaska
In summary, it looks like a traditional hugger but in a blue finish. I will try to get pics ASAP.
It was also a 'childhood' fan of mine and I do remember it hanging in the fan section of a local hardware store, and haven't seen that fan in at least 15 years.
Has anyone else ever seen such a fan?

I'have never seen a hugger in that color. Maybe it's rare though and congrats on getting the fan and I hope that you enjoy it! John!

Sears used to sell similar colored huggers in their catalogs. They had them in blue, pink, white, and yellow I think. However they were smaller 42" models and had schoolhouse lights. Also they had one just like yours in antique brass with woodgrain blades.

This particular fan was sold at a store chain called Stambaugh's, which has been defunct for many years now.

I recall seeing that fan, but four blade at the Spiegel outlet center back in the early 1990s, along with other cool fans of that era.

Cant quite remember, but that was like back in 1990. They came in a box, similar to a crest and it had a large picture of the fan, and next to it 5 other pictures of the fan in different colors.

It could well be either a Codep or Alaska? It definitely doesnt look like an Alaska . . . if it was, you'd know, the spinner motor has vents, and they usually start with the low speed first. I dont think it's Codep either, judging from the blade brackets and from the bearing cover. Crest is a possibility. There are any number of brands it could be.
