4 blade only flywheel, variable speed (pot.). This was probably made when they used the five blade flywheel adapter... Very cool fan. This was the fan I needed the small downrod for (thank you, Adrian!).

Yeah, looks like someone ditched the 5 blade adaptor. I had a 1982 antique white and brass panama, with the 5 blade adaptor and it used the four seasons blade holders. Then, I also had a brown and antique brass panama, 1982 also. It had the zephyr style brackets. The motor on it was toast, and the fan looked like garbage so I parted it out.

I was recently thinking about that fan (I had watched the eBay auction when it was running) and was going to ask you what you were doing with it. I love it, I wish I could have bid on it. I don't exactly love the Panama design with five blades, but with the four blades and long blade irons, I really like it!
It's a beauty, Sean. The black and antique brass look so nice together.
What did 5-blade adaptors look like? Any pictures of one around?
