Need to replace fan but unsure how to get the cover off over the ball mount at the electrical box. Normally that cover has something like a "J" on each side that slips over a screw to slide it into position and then a second screw close to it on each side. The replacement is that style but the one I need to remove which I'm guessing is 15? years old has just two straight holes with screws on each side and then something like a pin between the screws. The pin doesn't retract that I can tell and there isn't any channel like the "J" on the others I've seen. Anyone run into one of these? Do I need to work them out with a vice grip or Isn't letting me attach a photo .

I'm in Florida and it's an outside fan that was hit with 100+ MPH winds. Tore the blades off then ripped the motor and rod out of the socket in the ceiling. I'm trying to get the trim cover over the ball mount at the electrical box off.
