So I made an offer on eBay and got another 20" Lakewood to go with my S-223 avocado from 1976.
This one is a P-223 in terra cotta. I'd been wanting a terra cotta one, either another 5 blade, or the 3 metal blade.
Don't know much about this one, other than it works and definitely needs cleaning... looks like it should clean up nice,
all of the grille slots appear to be intact as is the blade and handle. Paint looks good, at least the outside.
I don't even know what kind of motor it has. What I can tell is it's an earlier one - it has the smaller bolt-in handle,
the brown speed sticker, and the round rubber feet. So I am going to assume it's pre-1975.
What is unusual about it to me are two things, and this is partly why I got it.
First it actually has a Lakewood badge on the front grille. While that was common on the metal blade
ones, I've only recall seeing a few plastic bladed ones with it, and I believe they were all avocado, not terra cotta.
Another thing it has, that I have never seen on a plastic bladed model, are the little round caps on each side where
the stand mounts. I've seen those on metal blade models, but all of the plastic blade ones I have ever noticed just have the
little square knockouts instead.
So this may well be a rare one. My S-223 is also somewhat rare in that it's the only square corner 1st gen I've seen that was avocado,
that color seemed far more common on the P-223.
I really hope the model sticker is intact, and I actually hope that it has a McMillan motor, because those have the date
code. If it has the Marco motor, I won't be able to date it.
