I have a 30 yr old intelitouch fan that turns on from a four button wall switch. When turned on there are a series of four beeps that raise in pitch and fan seems to operate correctly untill 2 mjnutes later when the fan starts beeping again, changing speeds and continuing in this fashion until the unit is turned off. Is this a wall switch problem? I wanted to be sure before I spend the $125 dollars on the new switch which is the W-32 from casablanca.
Has anyone experienced this sort of behavior? Is this the kind of thing that the new controller will fix or is the motor going to burn out soon as well and I should just get a new fan? House we just bought was mostly vacant for 25 years. Fan has had very little use.

Fan has had very little use. Hello! I am unsure of the exact problem your fan might be facing, but have you turned off the power to the fan for more than 5 seconds to reset it? Try it out once more and see if that clears any programs that might be affecting your fan. At least from a rough description of your problem, it seems like the fan is currently in a "Fan Minder" program, which is described with:
4. The fan controller will respond with three descending tones. A timer is now initiated and the fan will reduce one speed for each two-hour interval. The fan will not, however, descend below the second lowest speed. (here is a link to the operation manual)If this is not what is exactly happening, I would have to assume that you might have a board problem on your fan which might be quite expensive to replace/fix, however there are services online that offer to repair the current board on your fan for a slightly cheaper price. It seems very rare that the wall switches fail however I do not want to cross that off the list. If you have other functional intelitouch fans in the house, you can swap controls with a fan of equal age and see if the response is still the same. If not, there are testing services as well. The fan's serial number and model number will help with determining what board/switch your fan can use. Good luck! I hope it all works out!
