Good evening, I recently acquired two Silkon SCF-U-36 (No. 010075 & 010079) all metal three blade ceiling fans from my grandmother-in-laws house that was getting renovated. The fans were running great before removed, however in the process the wall controls were misplaced to never be found again. I am cleaning the fans up and planning to paint them and install under a covered porch. My questions are: 1. can I use a dimmer switch or does it have to be a fan multi speed specific switch? 2. Since ther is no telling how old these are, would it be best to replace the capacitors or just use what is there? Thanks for any insight.

You have to use a fan-rated control, not a light dimmer. Infinitely variable controls may make the fans noisier.
I would not replace a capacitor until it fails.
