finally got my 1886 set up mounted in the fan workshop after buying the fan some time in 2017 ive had difficulty using the U-hook system on the fan as the J-kook beam was too thick to fit in the grommet and push the sides into the U-hook, instead i took a small wide indian fan grommet (orient or 90s khaitan) and a long screw and installed the 1886 like i would typically do with industrials ive seen videos and the fan had a fast operation, when i operated mine i felt the speed on high is slow, could be some 50/60 hertz difference i guess the fan is dated in 2003 last time i checked years back the following pics are with the dry wash blade setup, the blades also have a darker (walnut?) side the pullchain system in this fan is cheap enough that the extendors are made of plastic and easily snaps off when u pull to operate the fan

Tais,
Nice fan! The grey-washed finish is interesting. After looking at the photo on the box, I think I like the matching-color side of the blades better than the walnut side. It makes the fan look more balanced and a complete unit.
Whoa, just realized that it's 52"! The cast globe body must be decent sized as I initially thought those were blades for 42". Much bigger than I thought! I also like the fluting on the canopies and switch housing. It adds a lot to the design.
Thanks for posting.

That is interesting. I haven't seen one in that finish before.
Those plastic connectors on the pullchain was something Hunter came out with in the 90s that was supposed to help keep the chain from getting yanked out of the switch mechanism. I would think they shouldn't break away that easily, though.

That seems like a very rare finish for this model. I would love to see it with the walnut blade finish.
Is the fan rated for 50Hz, 50/60Hz or 60Hz only?
Hunter often uses plastic pull chains connectors. I never had a problem with them. It sounds like your pulling the chain too hard. Pull chains must be pulled very gently.

Hmm.. that was the only finish sold here when i visited and there were only 2 remaining in stock, i remember i wanted other finishes for this fan as i liked them more than this, but either way i took it assuming i wont get another 1886 anytime soon The fan if im not mistaken was rated 220v/50hz I was a bit harsh maybe, due to my short height and unable to reach the chain except with support

Unsure about 2003 but I know most Hunters post 2008 I’ve worked with/installed do have rough pull chains. They’ve gotten a bit better recently but I know some from like 2008 you get like you were gonna pull the whole fan off the ceiling.
Honesty never knew they made these in this finish.

Tais,
Thanks for posting the video! That is definitely an interesting fan. A bit too ornate for me, but then again the filigree lightens what would have looked like a giant ball above the blades. Reminds me of a big spider hanging from your ceiling.
I do like fans where the body is ball-shaped and that's probably why I was drawn to some of the Modern Fan Co. fans. There's not a lot of fans with a ball-shaped body that I know of, but I'm sure I'll be finding about some that are out there soon. :-))
Thanks again for posting and take care!
