I was wondering, why do some ceiling fans have a spring in the motor and some not? I have been noticing that Relite Rapide MKII and many Indian fans such as Crompton Riviera and Hi Speed have a spring, while others, such as the old Relite/Airmaster and Venti do not have one.

This is most common in indian fans, from what i understand it holds the shaft tight to prevent hums from loose shafts as most indian fans are easy to disassemble compared to others
I havent seen in fans from other countries

OK, thank you. The only other country is England actually, because Relite Rapide MKII were made there. Even Singaporean Relites and O.Erre have springs I think.

That's interesting I didn't know any ceiling fans had springs for that.
