Older Emersons used to be really common in the older part of town here. There is a place called the Children's Museum which has exhibits like a play grocery store, post office, fire dept, etc. The building is very old, and when I was kid I was fascinated by it. It had the old square paper ceiling tiles, fluorescent strip lights and round HVAC vents. It also had several brown plastic 52" Emersons. There were also some newer white 3 blade industrials and one little white 42" spinner with a light kit. I used to laugh at the spinner because it was on a really short downrod on what must be a 10 or 12 foot ceiling, I doubt it did much. Anyway, sadly several years ago the building's roof started sagging, it was a hazard to the community. So they basically had to gut it down to the walls. It now has a regular suspended ceiling with square vents and NO fans. There also used to be an old drug store downtown called Gilbert's Drugs, which also had brown 52" plastic Emersons. We'd go in sometimes and I'd stare at the fans. Unfortunately, the place closed and became an art gallery and the fans got replaced with bronze Farmingtons I think. Finally, a shop my mom used to get framing done at had a white Emerson 1895 that I used to watch whenever we'd go. In the next town over there's also an old pharmacy and it has a mural out front of an old pharmacy with a cast iron ceiling fan of some kind in it which is pretty cool. The pharmacy itself is modern inside though.
