Has anyone documented compatibility of Hunter motors across models? Are all 25xxx motors the same? Are all 2xxxx motors the same? Are all the motors the same (assuming the same number of blades)? Are the Hunter motors borrowed from, or shared with, another manufacturer?
I have a Hunter 25444 that may need a new motor, and would like to know if anyone knows of compatibility of Hunter motors across models, expanding my search for a replacement motor.

The answer is no. Not all motor are compatible across models. For example, Hunter Original motor is totally different from any other Hunter motor, and bigger fan tend to have larger motor.
So my question is, what's wrong with the motor? Your fan is Hunter Clarion which probably has 172mm X 15mm motor.

Yes, that video is mine. I haven't tried with the blades on. I will try again with the blades on and see if the noise is still there. If the motor still makes that noise with the blades on, what other fan models would have the same motor? Today, I posted a new video, where I discovered the noise goes away when the motor is turned upside down. www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7NALIeqedw&t=0s

Jonathan A. : You were right! I put the blades on and the horrible noise was gone. I am very happy with the outcome; the fan looks terrific in its bedroom setting. I posted another video showing the fan running without the noise. There is still a 60 Hz hum, but it is a much quieter hum than the Hampton Bay fan that I replaced. I don't know if the hum can be heard in the video. I recorded the video with the fan running in updraft mode to avoid wind noise in the camera's microphone: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKv2Df5QgvU&t=0s

Depending on the size, Made in Taiwan Hunter motors from the 80s and early 90s are compatible with other Made in Taiwan Hunters of the same time, and most likely cross compatible (Or at least fit into housings) of Synlix Electrical and other made in Taiwan non Hunter ceiling fans... That noise seems quite normal without the blades on it..

Thank you, Adam D. , you confirmed what I had thought and hoped. Is it normal to hear a 60 Hz hum in the 80s and early 90s Taiwan motors? My 2016 Hunter Reinert doesn't make a 60 Hz hum sound; it is extremely quiet.

Flushmounted fans tend to hum more than downrod fans.
