Hello all, I've got a copper bel air halo that just stopped working. Took it to the local authorized Casablanca repair guy and was told it needs a new motor. From what I gather the motor is an xlp 2000 now discontinued. I see the Fan Man offering a rebuilt motor option and another seller on ebay offering new Chinese made xlp 2000 motors. Are these just knock offs of the original or were they originally made in China. I love my fan but can't seem to find anyone in my area to repair it. I don't really want to box it up and ship it off because I don't have alot of confidence that it'll get there in one piece. I hoping someone has a suggestion. Thanks

Thanks The XLP motors were either made in China or Taiwan so the motors on ebay are genuine. There have never been any knock off motors so you're completely safe. They were used when Casablanca shifted production of their fans out of the States back in 1996-1997. anyway, I would say the motors are not a bad deal on ebay if you are comfortable wiring and disassembling the fan for a rebuild. If the Fan Man offers a rebuild, I would suggest you could probably disassemble parts of the fan so it does go in one piece. Keep the Upper and Lower housing glass at home, and make sure to take off all of the blades and the downrod + mounting hardware if needed. You are pretty much set if you just send them a motor housing, blade arms, and the control for testing and rebuilding, but I would contact them to make sure beforehand. Hope this helps! Good luck!
