I hope all our US members have a happy Thanksgiving. We aren't doing any family get togethers this time unfortunately due to the virus, which I understand. I'm hoping everyone feels safe to do it next year. But anyway, I hope everyone has a good day whatever you do.

Happy Thanksgiving! It's going to be a lonely one, but we'll get through...Really makes you think about the lack of appreciation for all the times we have been able to get together without anyone worried about health concerns.

I had some smoked turkey and fresh green beans, carrots and stuffing with cranberry sauce. It was great. It was a good thing we decided not to all meet up this year at my grandmother's because unfortunately I now ended up with Crovid! Fortunately it is very mild and I seem to be over the worst of it already. Just hoping my parents here don't get it. I think I had it since Thursday already, but they haven't had any symptoms so I'm just staying isolated. I thought it was allergies myself until I lost my sense of smell, sort of like having a cold. At least 4 people at work, have it and I suspect at least 5 more who are sick likely have it also!

That’s a lot at work! Do you get Covid time or have to use sick time? I keep hearing about this Covid time from various people but don’t get if it’s everywhere or just for government jobs. I‘ve been working from home since March and am going to be until at least next March. My wife wfh from mid March through Labor Day and is now home kind till mid January at least. We’ve had one person in the whole company test positive but at our main office my wife works in a school and staff wise it was like three teachers in her entire school but the kids numbers were rising daily.

We've all been working from home. I picked up a computer so I can remote in to my work computer. And I have my desk and everything here at home so I just swap my monitor over to the other tower from work. So fortunately I haven't had to use any sick days. It's been different as I've never worked from home before but it hasn't been bad. It's kind of nice not having to drive back and forth every day. Not sure I'd want to do this for a long time though. As long as I don't have any symptoms by Monday I can go back on Tuesday. I'm not sure how many have gotten it but at least 5 have tested positive that I'm aware of. I suspect the rest have it as well, I think there are only about 3-4 left working in person right now. My team leader called this morning and told me that our GM and his wife are both in the hospital with it unfortunately! One of them had to have an antibody infusion. When I got tested they gave me some steroid medicines which I've been taking since I was congested but I've been feeling perfectly fine other than loss of smell and slight congestion.

That’s cool how they structured to work with you and definitely glad you’re not having major symptoms! It’s great how you can log into your work computer imagine If this happened ten years ago how much worse this could have been as more people would have been stuck going to work. The lack of commute rules, the not seeing no coworkers stinks also part of me liked going in even for one day a week to break up the routine! Did you get a stuffy nose at all with the Covid? Hoping for the best for your gm and his wife! Read last night this local singer passed from Covid such a shame he did summer concerts and stuff was in his Upper mid 70s and Sung all hits from the 70s-90s and danced like he was 15 ball of energy! Sad that was one thing I really enjoyed doing was going to see him in the summer as his concerts were one big dance party. Also had a guy from church test positive he’s still at the hospital but other then cold like symptoms he said he doesn’t feel bad at all but they kept him for his age and he has a heart condition.

I do have a stuffy nose, which is pretty much all I have now. Last weekend though I felt a little achy and weak at times and scratchy throat. I was doing some stuff around the house, and it was like I could get up for maybe 30 minutes but after that I'd have to sit down for an hour. And I slept very late last Sunday, just didn't feel like getting up. By Monday I was over all that though. I still didn't think I had it since the most of the symptoms were what I get sometimes when allergy season hits plus we had a cold front start around that time, so I thought it was just the weather or allergies. But then when the first person tested positive at work and I lost my sense of smell I knew something else was up.
Yeah working from home has its benefits. I just hope this doesn't change things permanently as far as public events. I know there's a push for everything to be virtual, which is needed right now. But I have no idea if they're going to want to stay like that long term with fewer public events or not. If so that's going to hurt a lot of restaurants and tourism and venues if people are going to work from home permanently and not travel anymore.
I guess we'll have to see, I think people are definitely going to want to travel again and see people in person again when this is over, but also with the proliferation of online over the last decade or two I don't know what to think.
Also I fear how long this is going to go on for. I know I was hearing there may be a vaccine starting later this month and then anyone else by spring and hopefully we will get back to normalcy sometime summer 2021. I really hope so, I don't want to go through another summer and holiday season like this so fingers crossed it's over by June/July at latest...
That stinks... the thing with this is I think it's not really an issue for the vast majority of people who are otherwise healthy, but you really don't know how you're going to react to it until you get it. So that's the scary aspect of this virus.
