Here's a rare and unusual 4 Saisons I got last July. At first it might seem like a Mini Victorian but it's got actual GE vents on a 107 cm model. 4 Saisons Victorians of this size normally don't have actual GE vent. They have oval vents without the eyebrow. It also has an unusual transitional mixture of parts I've rarely seen before on a 4 Saisons. A chunky switch housing, a bulky motor and tight wave cane typical of 4 Saisons made between 1982 to 1985 BUT the blades and brackets are of the skinny variant seen on 4 Saisons from the 1986-1987 period. Normally 4 Saisons of that later period have regular cane. I had never seen tight wave cane before on a 4 Saisons with skinny blades. It's such an obscure model that I'm not even sure if Diplomate really is it's name but I can't think of any other model it could be.
On top of all of these unusual features this particular one is not all red like my 1986 4 Saisons Mini Victorian but red and polished brass. I like a lot both of these finishes so the combination of the two is amazing. It also has unique style of wooden pendants for the pull chains. Usually 1982-1985 4 Saisons comes with yellow tassels and the 1986-1987 models have regular teardrop dark red wooden pendants. This one has these larger bright red pendants which I believe are the same that were used on Alaska fans around the late 1980's.
It also has a transitional motor, much thicker than the one found in my five bladed 1986 Mini Victorian but slightly smaller than the one in my four/bladed polished brass 1985 Mini Victorian. This one is four bladed only. I don't think Diplomate were even made in a four/five blade or five blade variant. Here's the motor compared with the red 1986 4 Saisons Mini Victorian on the left and the Diplomate on the right.
As you can see the blades, length of the pole and the canopy is exactly the same as on my 1986 Mini Victorian. It uses the older swirl logo which is what to expect for a 4 Saisons from 1985 or older. The speed range is also very similar to my 1986 Mini Victorian, about 60/130/210. It's has a few clickings sounds from the bearings but otherwise it's pretty quiet. No audible hum. The red glossy paint is in very good conditon.
Enjoy and happy ceiling fan day!
