I do not know if it is my impression or what? The first Relite Rapide MKII fan I got appears to gradually get slower. The second one was always faster despite being older.
Could it be the capacitor wearing out? It has been receiving some heavy usage these past few summer weeks.
Thank you.

try replacing the capacitor, it may be the capacitor's fault
if with the replaced capacitor its still not getting faster then it may be the motor or there is a blade having a much higher pitch than others and is putting stress on the motor
check if the fan has a good slow down when turned off.. stiff motors can affect the speed performance
if all is good and fan is still slow, disassemble the motor and observe the windings if there are any burned areas

OK, thank you for your reply. I will check the capacitor then, and if necessary open the motor then, because the blades are fine, and the motor is not stiff.

UPDATE: The capacitor was indeed the problem. It only was giving 0.9 Mfd instead of 1.6 Mfd. AT home we happened to have a damaged pedestal fan, which had a 1.5Mfd capacitor, and it was replaced for the old one. The fan is now faster.

UPDATE: The 1.5Mfd capacitor seems to be going down hill too.
