Hello Everyone, I have a vintage plastic Emerson fan from the early 1980s that I left running on high for a few days due to the heat. I woke up this morning and the fan was no longer running and will no longer run on any speed. The blades do turn freely and the power source is still active. Is this a capacitor issue? Doing a little research I understand this fan to have two capacitors (one for the speed control and one for the motor. Outside of that I don't know what to do to get it repaired but I'd like to repair it over replace it. I hope someone can give me some advice on how to proceed or what else should be checked to get it running again. Thank you, Allen Turner Attachments:

Most likely it is the capacitor inside the motor housing. Be careful disassembling it as the plastic can become brittle. I love these Emersons.

I love this fan as well! It moves TONS of air...well it did. Do you have any idea what type of capacitor goes in this fan? Any tips on the replacement? I'm rather new when it comes to motors. Thank you,

There should be writing on the capacitor. You'll want to replace with the same microfarad (uf) value and the same or higher voltage.
