I don't know hardly any of the Home Depot ones except for like the Clarkston, Farmington, and Littleton. Personally I prefer Lowes but if I'm ever in Home Depot I think to myself is it possible to make these fans any cheaper? The Stonington was a good fan and a looker too. 2011 they cheapened the blade irons and changed the light kit and that was the beginning of the end for it. It just wasn't the best performer btu a very pleasant fan. The Mariner I bought one for my porch and it had a bad motor, then I returned it and bought another... Bad motor and crooked so it rubbed against the motor housing. Agreed they had a lot of good ones back then. $99 was a great deal you could have probably sold it for a profit back then. I'm always surprised the Passport III wasn't out as long as it was when you look at the old Home Depot catalogs. I bet if they put it in the New Bronze/Brushed Nickel finishes they could still sell it today, traditional fans still have a following. I also really liked the Hunter Leighton from Lowes in AB. I've never seen an Original in any thrift/habitat setting. Thats the truth. We used to have several showrooms but they are all closed now. We still have one locally thats a true showroom not a "showroom"/electrical supply place. With everything available online and the showroom/luxury brands available on like HomeDepot.com it makes it tough. Ebay is where I get a lot of my fans. I'd like to collect more fans but space is the issue, I can store them in boxes sure but I'd rather have a little display. I'm shopping for a house and if I ever find the right one I'm gonna set up a spot for like five fans in the basement or something that I can switch them out I found a Stonington at a thrift store today. I did not think to look at the blade irons but it had the older Hunter oval logo instead of the newer one, so I guess it maybe one of the good ones from like 2008-2010. I did notice in a Google search that some of the ones with the older blade irons were in the box with the Dust Armor feature and I think you said that's when they got junky.

The stonington was a good looking fan one of my favorites but in all honesty underpowered beyond belief. The 153 sized motor with those wide MDF blades just did not morph well together.
Cole you are correct. I would like to know when Hunter changed manufacturers I could get in to what I know with dates.but idk how interesting that would be lol.

Hello this is doc1. I have an old "Classic Fan" made by Classic Fan, Inc (Desoto, TX) model ML. This company is not in business anymore. I have had no trouble with this fan until recently. the fan has got to be 35-40 years old. The blades turn by hand but with some tension. When turned on it labors to turn the blades and makes a humming noise. I think it needs to be oiled but I can't find where to do it. Can someone help me.

I'm that way with Hunter and Casablanca now. Anything new besides the Original I won't touch. Bad capacitors, bearings, noisy motors right out of the box and the consistent cheapening. I'll be honest that I haven't had any experience with the new Panama that has a 188x20 motor.. However I've had several new model Casablanca's and they came out of the box with bearing noise or some large problem for a brand new fan. **Note I'm not talking vintage or Stack/K55 models I'm talking DirectDrive/Whisperwind. Honestly at this point I think Harbor Breeze fans for the most part are better quality than Hunter. Hopefully the buyout of Emerson doesn't screw them up next. Here is newer Casablanca's first run! It's not noisy, though it does have some wobble even without blades but it doesn't really bother me. It does blow tons of air. I traded a Hunter Mariner that sparked for this fan.

You might try making a post in the Technical Problem section on here. If that doesn't work, try asking on the AFCA, as they may know more about those. I know what fan you're talking about but I'm not familiar with oiling it.

I prefer some hampto9n bay fans like the landmark with ge vents until they put the panama vents on them and three light kits on them. Now I look on ebay for the ge vent landmark and I always Palm air ge vent fans as well.
