Rewire 1983 Robbins Myers ceiling fan for new cap in sw hous

I have a 183 Hunter Original (Robbins Myers) ceiling fan. It has started to run slower and makes a noise similar to field lams vibrating. It is a three speed fan. I believe the capacitor has or is failing. The capacitor for this fan is located in the top inside the motor housing. It is a tubular capacitor that is no longer available. I would like to cut the wires for this capacitor and install a modern rectangular capacitor bank i the switch housing. I don't know which wires to cut to isolate the failed capacitor. Then I need to know which wires to connect to the new capacitor in which will be in the switch housing. Can you help?

Had you made sure it has enough oil? Also, since yours is from 1983, the capacitor would only be used for low speed.
