Do you have a desk fan that rattles? You might think it's just an old fan, but the likely culprit is a loose set screw. That was the issue with my fan, and tightening up the set screw returned the quiet running status to the fan.

Great tip. A loose blade cap cover or cage badge can cause rattling also. I like the look of that Cool Spot, that geometric cage design is really unique. The base looks cool too with that rounded shape.

The base looks cool too with that rounded shape. I've had this happen a lot and yeah those are other culprits. Interestingly I have another later model Cool Spot with a loose badge!

Good tutorial..I do have to wonder if this was what was wrong with that Air King fan I got.. I wish I had thought of this before going through the hassle of sending it back for another..
