"For a 4-arm light kit, I'd point you to Emerson's 4-arm; Emerson's Brushed Steel finish is basically the same as Hunter's Brushed Nickel finish, so the fan would look cohesive. Link: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F192185406561" Thanks! So for the Emerson unit I'd be replacing the entire lower portion of the paramount and replacing it with the Emerson F440BS? For some reason I thought you only attached these kits to the bottom of the existing assembly (sorry don't know the terminology) What Parkman said, and exactly what you were thinking; these just screw into the bottom plate of the switch housing; you take the pin out of the middle, take off the switch cap held on by the pin, and after screwing the fixture into the hole, you attach the white and blue wires coming out of the light kit fitter to the white and blue wires from the fan's switch housing respectively. The switch housing gets reattached to the fan after that. Also, you're gonna have to find some glass shades for the light kit, four in total. Also, make sure that the blue with from the fan is wired to the black wire coming from your house/the ceiling and the black wire coming from the fan for single switch or no switch installation. Or, ensure the blue wires from your fan is wired to the other hot wire coming out of the ceiling (usually red) for dual switch installation.

I'm good with the wiring side, I just wasn't sure how the kits mount on different units. I like the lower housing on the paramount and in general like fans better without lights but in the bedrooms the previous owner put in a fan with lights replacing the central light location but downstairs I did all LED recessed so no light kits at all. I love LED recessed lights but don't want to put them where they go into the attic because of air gaps. I had my attic air sealed a couple of years ago plus R50 and it is really tight and I went down about 100 in utilities btwn that and a high eff furnace - all through a state program.
I ordered 2 panamas today! I talked to that same rep. he said his last day in the call center is Friday. they are replacing the call center with another one in a different location. He said the new call center will have no record of previous tickets or coupon codes and may not honor them. Although not free like amazon the ground shipping is a flat 9.95 and I paid a few bucks for 2 day ground, just to get it up.

I can understand that after sealing the attic. I would love to get a house with recessed lighting, I prefer fans without lights if you have recessed lighting. My In-laws NEVER turn the light on on there fan and they'll turn one lamp on in the living room, maybe two it kills my eyes but my Mother In Law, doesn't like the fan light on. I don't care... I'm not gonna strain my eyes lol.
Congrats on the Panama, I wonder where they will be moving the call center.. Hopefully its staying in the USA! Can't wait to see pics!

I put in the new halo select the color temperature models because I wasn't sure what i wanted but switched them all to 3000k and haven't changed them. I put 12 in the kitchen, 6 in the familyroom, and 4 in the open sunroom (should have put 6), all on dimmers. Really love them and they use virtually no electricity. Now I recall he said they were closing 1 of the 2 call centers, which may not be good for CS. This rep said he was staying on in another role however. Appreciate you folks strong input on this and for not being condescending about selecting new fans at all (quite the opposite). I have great appreciation for vintage quality things and have a pretty stocked shed and workshop with much vintage Lawn machinery and wood working tools. Probably my favorite is a 90's era Diesel powered John Deere lawn tractor. However, I don't think my wife would want me buying stuff for the finished kitchen off craigslist or a habitat restore but I think I ended up getting nice, well-made, high quality, durable units that will accent nicely, and got a good deal on them as well. May pull the trigger on the paramount as well. Oh, and speaking of vintage, I found and have waiting for pickup 2 36 inch originals when I travel in a couple of weeks. I have no idea where they are going in the house. Maybe in my workshop or garage but maybe in the smaller bedrooms if I can find nice lights to go on them. Looking forward to having them. They are white. Thanks, will post back pictures in a few days!

It was bad enough with the two the last few times I've called. Thankfully that hasn't been for a year or two. I can understand that. A lot of people don't want used stuff or they want quality while still in style. I've personally been on the forums for about 11 years now. Its definitely calmed down when talking about newer fans. Granted some people are still exclusively vintage fans only. Unfortunately due to Facebook a lot of people have migrated over there to the groups however I plan to stay here till it doesn't exist. Everyones a lot more respectful now about newer fans especially if they're quality like the models we've been talking about. UH OH... Picking up Originals?!? Sounds like you're getting the fan bug haha. That'd be a neat install in the workshop or garage. Especially since you have the vintage tools and lawn machinery!!

I got the panamas today. Came in a plain brown box, not the full model box like the hunters. The blades are pretty bad, one side looks like it was shot with a bb gun all over and the other side is just a bland color but one is all scratched. I called them for a new set and they said they don't have replacements for it and I have to send the whole fan back. I said I'll take another color and they said they don't have replacement blades for XLP's anymore. They seem to be moronic when it comes to interchange on parts.
I'm really annoyed that the fan has no means to operate manually. I had no idea it didn't have a pull chain. I also really hate the idea of being battery dependent to operate the thing. I thought the wall control was just an included electrical fan switch. Could I just turn the thing on speed 4 and then use a 3 speed fan switch to operate it normally bypassing the included wall switch? I'm guessing yes because I originally used the instructions online which were different and didn't have the receiver and wall switch included. I wired in normally without the receiver and the fan worked from switch just fine (on high) but then I came to realize there was no way to change the speed and I opened the sealed manual.
The only benefit of that kind of setup is if you had lights and didn't have 2 hot wires to the fan, and in that case a remote would be better anyway but never thought there'd be no manual option. Now I'm stuck either removing the existing wall switch or adding another one

I'm surprised at that they don't have replacement blades or something they could substitute because their blades are now universal in the drilled pattern to attach to the blade iron. So is it safe to say you're assuming you're keeping them both?

I haven't decided. I really don't like the no manual option, not even a reverse switch there. If I send them back, they're paying the freight for both because I'm not keeping just one.

I bought the one on clearance which is nickel, with river timber or distressed oak blades. here are some pictures. It's not a bad looking fan, it is noiseless, and puts out some airflow. That's with the 2" downrod. The lowest part of the blade is 11 5/8 from the ceiling, so it sits lower than the specs which put it 11.2 with a 3" rod. I don't get the impression hunter/casa backs their products at all. When the receiver or wall unit go out they won't have the replacements and I'll have no way to change the speed or direction and the fan will be garbage despite the good motor and they'll offer a coupon. That's a bad design, there should always be a manual option.

I personally think it looks great. However iagree with you on Hunter having parts especially on that specific model since they had a limited run with that motor in that style.
I checked eBay but couldn't find any brushed nickel xlp's of the old style with an XLP. Unfortunately at that price point the only way to get the same if not better quality would be go to an Emerson Premium, crown or I believe there's another model with the K55XL.

Edit: I will try the paramount for $99 from frugalfair before I decide to return it or not. I can put the paramount in my bedroom but if I love it maybe I can swap them downstairs depending on their real height. Part of me is too lazy to take it down and ship it back and start again but I don't know where to put the wall controls. I could put them in the basement stairwell, and just access them when I want to change the speed otherwise use the live switch for on/off only. Or I could just bypass the switch lines in the box making it live and replace it with the wall control but the other switches in the 2 boxes then have to be converted to flapper Doxa style. The white panama's would be nice at that price as well.

The white Panamas are the cheapest I have seen, and I agree are a great price. I think they would fit well, but wouldn't have the contrast the brushed nickel has. Otherwise the only old style Panamas I've seen on eBay are in matte black or weathered copper and more expensive. And I don't think those would fit your decor at all. But they would have the 4 speed pullchain or Intellitouch.
I was thinking of getting that same model Panama, so I'm glad you put pics. There doesn't seem to be any videos or experiences posted on here or YouTube about these newer models. I don't know much about these, but is there a way to replace the receiver with a remote receiver and control it that way, if the included unit goes bad?
Like parkman said, these models weren't made very long with the XLP-2000, in fact I don't think any have been made since 2016 or early '17. I agree, I think it looks good too though.

I just posted an edit above that I bought the 99 paramount amazon prime to see if I like it more before I return or keep the panamas here. I actually really like white fans so the deal parkman posted is great but I still have to return my poor builder elite to home depot or it will be like a fan showroom here (which I'm sure you like). I'm sure I'll keep the paramount for my MBR and get a light kit.

Oh, and on the controls, you can get a cover plate that has both the small and large openings. So you can still use the toggle switches along with the decor style opening for the fan control. It's strange on the control, so basically it's a remote control that installs in the outlet box instead of handheld? I'm not very up on things, but I didn't know of such a thing. It's kind of a silly design because these days usually there's a switch controlling the fan or light anyway. So wiring would become a pain. And it's not really as useful as a handheld remote, they might as well have kept Intelitouch really.
Another idea - is it possible to bypass the remote receiver, and use a standard in-wall fan controller to control it instead? Most wall controls (or remotes) work with the fan pull chain set to high. But since the fan doesn't have a pull chain, it's always on high basically.
