87 is a reasonable guess, though the power rating of 125 volts would lead me to believe it's of more recent make..

Did Black and Decker sell fans in Canada? Because I don't remember any B&D heaters or fans here in the US until in the 2000s.

Black and Decker fans came later if I recall correctly. I have some ads from the 2000s about some 5 bladed table and stand fans. Coyld maybe post them here later on! Maybe Jean Lemieux knows if there was some fans sold before the 2000s?

Black & Decker definitely had heaters prior to the 2000's.
The first actual fans I saw of Black & Decker were these five bladed Silent-Force Typhoon fans at Canadian Tire that you mentionned Philippe. They came out in 2002 or 2003.

The fact that your heater was made in Hong Kong indicates that it was made prior to 1989.

The fact that your heater was made in Hong Kong indicates that it was made prior to 1989. as I mentionned, I am pretty sure it's a 1987 built. the engraved code is a good hint.

That was my experience as well. since I had seen those Typhoon pedestal fans here.
Although, in South America Black and Decker was selling fans in the 1980s. Since GE was still making fans there until they sold their small appliances to Black and Decker in 1980, and B&D had continued to make that beige metal GE c-strap style desk fan with 5 plastic blades (that was sold here in the late 60s/early 70s) under their own name during the 1980s.
