I stopped in Sears yesterday. The entire kids departments are cleared out. Toys has been consolidated to a small section and where it used to be (former electronics department) is all cleared out. Still a lot of appliances, but scaled back. Vacuums and small appliances scaled back. Tools getting pretty cleared out as well as lawnmowers and outdoor. The auto center is closed as well. Shoe department is nearly cleaned out mens and womens still pretty full but a lot seems to be coming from elsewhere. Most of the employees seem to have been brought in or temporary, nobody wearing uniforms. Somebody just posted on another site the strategy now is to close all remaining Kmarts starting in November and finishing up in January as well as some additional Sears. There will be no Christmas shopping advertising this year for Sears or Kmart. Softlines in remaining Sears will be scaled back most likely. They are trying to sell the Kenmore brand to Lowes but it has stalled lately, although there are also talks about selling it to Amazon. Remaining Sears Auto Centers that are standalone will change to Diehard Auto which will be a separate brand. Also, it's looking like most likely JCPenney will file Chapter 11 early next year... I can’t believe they’re still chugging along two Years later

Speaking of JCPenney I have seen a few commercials from them lately, thought that was interesting. We did walk thru the one at the Florida Mall a few months ago. It actually looked pretty good inside and had a reasonable amount of customers. There was a Sears open there but didn't go thru it. I wonder what it looks like now.
I did get a DieHard battery for my car back in summer 2020 at Advance Auto Parts. Seems to be fine, on the pricey side though, not sure I'd do it again.

No jcpenneys for me to look at before ours closed it was still a decent selection of quality stuff. As for Sears I love them for the nostalgia however a lot of there stuff became crap and overpriced. I bought a battery for my s10 pickup from advanced and whole time it felt a little underpowered but it was the correct amps and everything. I took it to advanced whose now selling diehard they exchanged it just showed my emailed original receipt and not a problem seems really well built. The prices while I was waiting on them seemed a tiny bit more then the other available brands but I’m very happy with the quality and that truck eats batteries.

Just before Thanksgiving I stopped in Lowes and saw some Craftsman items on Clearance. I got a nice Craftsman LED dimmable lantern for $7 that was originally $30 - I'll get that for my dad for Christmas. They also had some other LED flashlights and stuff that seemed like good deals...
