I've fought and fought with my Galaxy phone trying to get it to show up when I add attachments but it just won't show up anymore. I've tried using a different USB port and even removing the battery. But it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting over and over as soon as I plug it in and I've tried using the correct power settings and anything else, but it just doesn't work. I used to be able to upload straight from my phone on Photobucket but of course that's pointless now and it won't work with Imgur which I don't like using as the pictures turn out way to big when I post them.
It can't be this hard to get the photos uploaded! If I try to post straight to the forum from my phone there is no attachment option like there is in Google chrome. This has pretty much prevented me from posting photos for months now. It used to work before I got Windows 10.
I've tried on my old laptop too with XP and it doesn't recognize it either.

I downloaded an app called SYNCIOS You don't need the paid version, as the free version works to transfer pictures. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 on Verizon Wireless and my parents' Dell Inspiron desktop running Windows 10 Professional and it works well for me. I used to do it the manual way, but got annoyed with how long it took. For work I text pictures to an email account I specifically set up to send pictures to. Depending on which Galaxy you have, it may be incompatible with the computer if it's an older model.

Thanks, I finally figured out what my issue was though. My computer was plugged into the modem itself and not into the wireless router, so the phone couldn't link up to the computer over wifi. After I switched the plugs and changed the setting on my phone to enable sharing photos with my computer, I can now see them on there to upload and I don't even have to plug my phone into the computer. I just wish there was a multiple upload option like Photobucket had, because every time I try to upload photos I have to open the photos list for each one and wait for them all to load.

I don't use Wi-Fi to sync my phone, I do it directly via USB. using the USB charging/syncing cable that came with the phone.

Yeah I have an Android, MUCH easier than iOS to transfer data... I don't trust the cloud.

I used to use the USB on mine but for some reason after I got Windows 10 everything went crazy. When I plug in my phone, the computer keeps making that device connected/disconnected sound over and over and will say device connected/disconnected every few seconds. Sometimes it would stay connected but usually the phone would just be on charge and wouldn't show "Connected as a media device". But now it works wirelessly and I don't have to plug anything in.

I used to not have to give the computer permission via the phone whenever I connected it with Windows 7, but now with Windows 10 the computer asks the phone for permission every time to access my files. Must be a security update, my phone gets them every month. It does the same whenever I connect to Bluetooth in my Jeep But I just give them both permission to connect and it's all good I could never sync my phone correctly to any of my Macs. Maybe it's because they want me to buy an iPhone (NEVER!). Syncios has worked out great for me for transferring files to my Windows machine using USB.

I am no fan of Windows 10 and it seems to have more than a fair share of glitches to go around.. But, in this particular case it sounds like an issue with the cable.. Usually those type of cables have 4 wires, 2 for power and 2 for data.. So it's very possible that the cord will charge normally, but have something wrong with the data wires and not interface properly with a computer..
Perhaps you should look into getting a camera to use instead.. You can get a reasonable camera for less than 40 dollars, and it will probably save you a ton of hassle..

I do have a digital camera actually, it's a Kodak and I got it back in 2007, but it takes good pictures I think. I'd say just as good as my phone camera does. I just stopped using it when I got my phone. It probably needs a new battery as it's been several years since I replaced it, and never used it much since.
The cable could be the issue too, I do have a flat cable I use in my car, maybe I'll try it on the computer and see.

The cable suggestion was the answer. I tried the cable from my car and it connected to the computer as a media device and I had no problems at all. I don't know why I didn't try it sooner. Now I'll just get another cable and use that one for on the computer and the one I was having problems with will stay with the wall charger. And use another for in the car.

I seem to be having this issue again, not with the disconnecting/reconnecting though. My computer updated today, it loaded a lot of updates and when I plugged in my phone after, I noticed it isn't showing up when I try to upload attachments. It shows the C drive, desktop and all but not Samsung. It must have had something to do with the update because it was working find yesterday.

The updates break things all the time.. If you search the Google for the problem you're experiencing, you'll probably get a ton of threads reporting the same problem..
