Here's something I got which although is new, is also quite old. It's a Black and Decker The Classic Steam Iron. I don't really collect irons and rarely use one, but I wanted this because of its history. It's almost the same as the General Electric Steam and Dry irons from the 50s-70s. The only difference is they usually had a cloth cord and didn't have the indicator light or auto shut off. Unfortunately it is made in China, but I still like it because it's probably one of the only appliances from the old GE line that are still made. I guess Black and Decker got it when they bought GE's small appliances in 1984. It does seem to be pretty well made, it's quite heavy and you can see the base is all metal with chrome and the plastic handle seems to be a thick plastic though it's probably not bakelite like the old ones would be. The only things I don't like so far is there is a minor scratch on the dial plate which was there when I opened it. I'm probably not going to bother to exchange it for that. And I preferred the older Black and Decker logo, but this one was the only one in left in stock at the store, though on display they had both the iron with the old and new logo. It's not a big deal though, and not really a negative. . Here's what the GE version looked like.

That's pretty neat! If I had to get a new iron this is definitely one I'd consider..
