Yup the Nissans did that as well, but I sat in a King Cab (Extended Cab) a few months back (brand new 2018 Frontier base model with manual windows) and it had a full bench seat, but there was literally NO room back there. I HATE jump seats. Have to have a full seat. They're too small to put a full rear bench seat in, you'd literally have no leg room at all. The Frontier has a full rear bench seat. How did the Dakota have a full rear bench seat if it was the same size as an S10 or Ranger?

Frontier King Cabs have two forward facing jump seats Those kinda seats are ok, but not the side facing ones... regardless to say, I'm of average height (5'5") and fit well in most cars... in my lifetime I've encountered two cars I've felt uncomfortable in due to not having any leg or head room... the 2013-16 Dodge Dart and the 2005+ Nissan Frontier King Cab. I ALWAYS adjust the front driver's seat to where I usually adjust it in my own vehicle in ANY vehicle I sit in and then sit in the rear left seat so I'm basically sitting behind myself, so I can judge leg and head room.

The S-10 and Sonoma were TRUE Compacts while the new crop of Pickups are Midsize (2005 +Tacoma, Ridgeline, Frontier, 2019 Ranger, 2nd Gen. Colorado/Canyon). The Dakota was in between the current midsize segment and the compact segment. Thats why Dodge had the D50 back in the 80's that was a true compact.
