I have 2 Casablanca Panama5 in the living room of the house we just purchased couple years ago. The fans have performed flawlessly though the InteliTouch wall control was a little tricky to figure out. Last night one of fans popped, smoked and of course quit working. I took it down today and found one of the 2 boards on the inside had burned components. I would like to know if there is newer upgraded replacement electronics for these. I would like to replace both of them and also replace the wall controller. The serial number for the fan is DV15204. If anyone has any insight on these I would greatly appreciate it as I would like to refinish and keep both fans. Like I said they have performed flawless up till now and wouldn't mind sinking a little into them because I could tell they were quality fans when I took the one apart today. Nor do I want to sink a grand into another pair. I have been an electrician for 22 years and installed many Lowes/HD fans but I could tell these were a step above any I have ever installed before.

Too bad Casablanca no longer makes those anymore. Here are the options:
1. Find someone who has a spare board. 2. Convert to pull chain (requires drilling hole on the switch housing). 3. Convert to single speed, and use a wall or remote control. 4. Sell this fan to one of the collectors here and get a new ceiling fan.

If the board doesn't have burn marks but some of the capacitors appear "bloated" (not sure if that's the right term), leaking, or burnt out, they may be replaceable if you get the board rebuilt. They don't make replacement boards anymore, but they sometimes sell on eBay, so you might want to check there. Since you're an electrician, you can most likely rebuild the board yourself, but if it's burnt on the board, then the board is completely bad, and there's no repairing it.
Hope this helps!
