Replaced switch, capacitor and reverse switch. Fan hums on one speed but will not turn. Ohm meter reads 80,60 and 20 on red yellow and grey. Get no reading on blue and brown. Same at plastic connector. Am I correct that start coil is bad? No obvious burns or breaks. Are directions for stator rewinding available? Is there a source for replacement stators?

Did you make sure it has oil? Look for any broken wires. It's possible that windings may have burned out from being powered without oil, and you might have to replace the whole stator if you can find a spare stator that some fan collectors may have, or even send the whole fan to Hunter for a brand new one. vanhalen5150 can help.

Fan had oil when removed from ceiling. A fair amount poured out when fan was on its side. Fan had not run for 5 or more years and was difficult to service or remove. Known to have a bad non clicking switch and finally a broken chain. However, I believe the fan failed before the switch. I was hoping someone could confirm that reverse switch powered the starter coil and that blue and brown should show voltage to ground.
