Did anyone have an interest in undercabinet radios? I always thought they were pretty cool, especially the GE Spacemaker ones. They had some with just radio some radio/cassette radio/CD and I think there was an intercom version. And some had a light that would shine on the countertop.
I didn't realize but one of the last GE Spacemaker ones has an outdoor thermometer unit that will send the data to the radio so it could display the temperature and conditions. It also has an input jack for an MP3 player. Not sure when GE stopped making these though.

We had a GE Space maker A/M-F/M radio with tape deck and undercabinet lamp up until 2006 when we replaced it with a Bose Wave Music System that we could use to entertain when we host parties... set it at a low volume playing background music... Bose makes (or at least made) an undercabinet mount, and then the Wave Radio or Music System sits on the "shelf" underneath of the mount and secures via plastic straps to keep it in place... works well and we use the Wave a lot. We love our Waves, as I have a Wave Radio IV (replaced a Wave Music System that had issues that I bought new nearly 15 years ago) in my bedroom that's used as my alarm every day, and we have a very early Wave Radio I that we used in lieu of computer speakers in out main computer. For the kitchen one, we lost the undercabinet light when we upgraded to the Wave Music System, but we never used the light, and never did change it when it burned out... the only good thing about it was its super cool red LED display, as the Bose has a green one, and my Bose has a blue one, both with vacuum fluorescent displays.
My late grandmother had a GE Spacemaker "Slimline" that had flatter speakers and an integrated CD player (had a motorized CD tray where the display folded down similar to an aftermarket car stereo and the CD tray would pop out from behind it, and then the display, which had gears on it, would retract back onto the radio once you closed the CD tray... my grandmother's friend gave her a ton of CD's and that's how my grandmother got into CD's) and undercabinet light. that we got for her in 2003 at Best Buy when she moved from her house into a condo, and she took it with her when she moved to an apartment. We took it out of the apartment when she moved into a nursing home, and I took it with me and still have it, but I don't use it. I think hers had a blue dot-matrix display, and it had auto on/off, kitchen timer, and digital radio tuning functionalities, unlike the old GE Spacemaker we had with a tape deck, which may have had a limited kitchen timer, but couldn't turn itself on or off, and had a tuning dial that was tuned manually). I used to keep it on when I slept over her house, and by morning, it would turn itself off, and my grandmother always told me she never turned it off when she got up before I did. Hers also had a DST functionality for Daylight Savings Time, so all she had to do was hit a button with a sun icon, and it would automatically go forward or back an hour (it didn't set itself, though, just changed when you hit the button... a sun icon would also appear in the display when DST mode was turned on). That unit also had a remote control and membrane buttons instead of plastic hard keys.
Thompson Electronics (GE's electronic service and marketing division) went out about 10 or so years ago, and that's when they stopped making anything but telephones. They, however, also recently stopped making telephones (Jordan may be able to tell you more about their electronic division).

We had a Sony CD player/clock radio (model ICF-CD543RM) for about 10 years. We got it around 2004-05 and used it for dinner music and parties/gatherings. It had decent sound quality (it featured Sony's MEGA BASS function) and it worked pretty well for the time that we had it. We got rid of it a few months ago.

My grandparents used to have some type of undercabinet radio in their kitchen.. This goes back many years, I don't recall what make it was but it very well could have been GE.. They've since refinished the kitchen and removed it, but chances are that unit is still floating around their house somewhere..
GE produced an undercabinet 900 MHz cordless phone years ago, which I naturally find interesting.. I've seen quite a few of them going on eBay, but they're for prices far higher than what I find reasonable..

Yes, I remember the 900MHZ Spacemaker phone back in the early 2000s at Target... had membrane keypad just like the Spacemaker radios at the time Too bad GE doesn't do consumer electronics anymore.

I went to Goodwill tonight and saw (didn't buy it, nor did I check the price on it) a GPX A/M-F/M undercabinet radio in white (that's it, nothing else, just a clock, no digital tuner or anything, just an analogue dial tuner). It's about the size of the old A/M-F/M only GE Spacemaker undercabinet radios. I don't know how old it is, but it had the box with it (not sure if it was NIB or NOS or just an owner cared enough to keep the box), but I'd guess it's approx. 15 years old... it had a red display. Just thought I'd add to this.

GE definitely produced some interestingly designed telephones,, but they were poor quality.. Their stuff never lasted..

True... I liked the 900MHz ones that they made in the late 90s and early 00s... never lasted... if you wanted something that would last you'd go with Uniden.

My friend had a silver undercabinet radio with CD player in their condo when they had it, I think it may have been a GPX also, they never used it that I recall, it was just in there. If the one you saw had a red display I would think it might have been mid 90s or so but I'm not sure.
We had a bunch of GE cordless phones, I remember a black one and white one with the big cradles and the white one had a small charger also. And then we had a smaller 900Mhz one from like 2002 or so. The other two were from the late 90s or so. I still have a GE corded speakerphone from about 2009 that I got at Walmart. I was disappointed as it uses 4AA batteries to make the screen work. I thought it had an adapter, that's the reason I didn't buy the slimline version because it needed batteries and I thought the speakerphone didn't, but it turned out you had to have the corded speakerphone with answering machine to get the adapter. So after the first batch of batteries went bad, I just took them out and deal with no caller ID. lol

Those Uniden phones keep going forever.. I've got several that have been in use for 20 years and haven't skipped a beat..
Have you tried using those Energizer Lithium batteries in the CallerID? I've found those last quite a while,, if you don't have NiMh recharge batteries that's what I'd suggest using..

I saw an under cabinet radio at the thrift store today, it was a Spartus brand and brown in color with white stripes on the front. I think it was just a radio and digital clock, I don't think it had a light on it.
I haven't tried the Lithium batteries, I may eventually just get a new battery for one of the cordless phones I picked up with caller ID on them. That way I don't have to replace the batteries in the GE. I have a VTech with 3 handsets I found and also a Uniden with 1 set but they all need new batteries, the VTechs came with none and the Uniden has a worn out battery.

It will probably be cheaper to buy new batteries for the cordless phones,, those lithium batteries can be pretty pricey..

I ended up with one of these GE Spacemaker radios. It's a Slimline model 7-5400A, and it has a Weather band and TV band also. The TV band doesn't pick up anything, and I assume it's because it's analog. It has an indoor/outdoor temperature display as well, but unfortunately I don't have the outside sensor, you can see it in the manual. The radio has an aux jack with phone/iPod holder too, but my Galaxy won't fit inside, seems to be sized more for an iPod or older iPhone! In the video, it didn't get many FM channels either, but I think if I unwind the cord it should work better. I only get one AM channel and its weak.
Let me know what you think about it.

Hmm that sounds similar to mine - except mine doesn't have the membrane buttons, and it can't turn itself on and off, it does have a timer though. Also mine has RDS on the FM, so it can display song/artist info. The one you're describing sounds kind of like one of these two www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GE-Slim-CD-SpaceMaker-AM-FM-TUNER-w-Remote-Control-7-5295/273827934040?hash=item3fc16aaf58:g:mbsAAOSwEtBcyIFRwww.ebay.com/itm/GE-Spacemaker-7-5300-Under-Cabinet-CD-AM-FM-Weather-Radio-Light/192868035934?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3D9d5d669ecb2646a39b5e93689524b4ec%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D233232684398%26itm%3D192868035934&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
