That cloud box came out around 2003/04, my 12" oscillator has that style box and it says copyright 2003. The later box that said "It's all about being cool" I started seeing around 2007. I thought only the turbo fans had the "It's all about being cool" box, I just assumed the others kept the cloud box.

I got a Patton U2-1272 off Craigslist, it needs switch and thorough cleaning. Awesome! I've been looking for one of those for years.. A local farm that sold vegetables and such in the summer used to have one of these at the counter..

The later box that said "It's all about being cool" I started seeing around 2007. I thought only the turbo fans had the "It's all about being cool" box, I just assumed the others kept the cloud box. The two window/table fans I have are in the It's All About Being Cool box.. I think those fans are dated 2006 and 2007, but I'm not certain.. They may be both 2007..

Thank you, I've been looking for a smaller HV and a Patton U2 series fan, I got both in one. I'm not sure about the Duracraft dates, I believe you know more about them.

They could be 2006-07, I just remember CVS sold those turbo fans, box fans and 12" oscillators. The 12" oscillators always had the cloud box that I saw. There were also some stackable turbo fans that showed up around spring/summer 2006 and they had the "It's all about being cool" box, so 2006 is about right for when it started. I bought my 12" oscillator in 2007 and it was actually dated 2004 on the UL sticker, so there was some older stock around too.
I like the Patton!

What about the 16" pedestal, were those made during the same time?

I recall seeing the box fans at CVS (in fact, that's where by two came from) as well as the stacking fans.. But I do not recall seeing the oscillators.. But I think they were sold there at one point, because a vaguely remember seeing a Duracraft oscillating fan in use in the store behind the counter..

What about the 16" pedestal, were those made during the same time? Are you referring to the one with the round base and plastic grille? Those were around this time, but I don't remember seeing those at CVS or any other stores. I've seen one at a flea market in use.

Yeah, they sold the 12" oscillators with the plastic grille around then, I bought mine there in 2007. A little after that, they stopped selling them and only had the turbo fans and 10" box fans. Back in the 1990s we had Eckerd (changed to CVS in 2004), and they sold Duracrafts back then too, my 12" black pedestal one came from there. I think I can vaguely remember the neon colored turbo fans being sold in the early 90s too.

And now that I'm thinking about it more,, there was also a pedestal fan of the same design in the back of the store..

Oh, I know the one you're talking about now. It was like the 90s one but with a mesh guard, commonly under the Honeywell name. I imagine CVS sold those in the early 2000s era, since they sold Honeywells and Duracrafts.

Those were good fans,, it's a shame they've become so uncommon it seems lately..

I always liked the older desk fans as well. I was never able to get the desk one, but I do have two of the stand/pedestal ones so that's close enough I guess. The desk version came in some less common types such as a silver/platinum color, and there was a brass version with a round black base and clear gold blades. Those are very rare. There was a recall on them because the clear blades could shatter, at least on the 16" pedestal version, maybe not the 12" desk model.

Do you have any pictures of those models? I've never heard of them before,, that brass one sounds really interesting..

I have an old Sears catalog with them in it, but otherwise, no, I couldn't find any photos on Google images either.
