In Malta there are a number of department stores that sell various items such as materials, curtains, haberdashery, and household. The original one, which is the largest has about 100 fans (sorry, I calculated wrongly)! All the other newer ones have no fans. Unfortunately some areas of the shop have been refurbished and about 30 ceiling fans have been removed. UPDATE 20th Oct 2018: two departments have had their fans removed, 15 in total, and another department is being refurbished and about 10 fans have been removed. 3 or 4 only are left. However, there was a disassembled one which I was allowed to take! (see 'My first ceiling fan')
Now that I could see the top of the motor I actually got to know the name of THE MYSTERY FAN! It is called Relite Rapide MKII.
These are the different ceiling fans in the building:
Relite Rapide MKII which I mentioned earlier
48" or 56" (not sure)
many 36" (the upper canopy had a part cut off)
36" closer view (also with part of upper canopy cut off)
The most known Relite/Airmaster (If I remember well only the first 8 in this photo, as the others are of the unknown brand, like the ones in the 2 photos above) Ithink they are the oldest fans in the building. Some (not in this picture) have had their motor and blades replaced with the Rapide MKII motor and blades. Some others have been changed to Evernal
Westinghouse
Havell's. This is not a photo of a fan in the building, but a picture of the same fan I found on the internet, which I am not sure is the same model, and the ones in this buiding are larger than this one. There were originally 4 in a new section in about 2007, then 4 more were added near them, making 8, and then the original 4 were removed about 6 years later in order to put a staircase leading into a new section, which does not even have ceiling fans. So now there are only 4 of these fans.
Something strange about these fans is that their blades are almost all badly bent. Could it be the speed that caused this? They spin really fast. One particular one had a broken lower canopy that allowed it to fall on to the motor making a loud noise as it spun and bounced around. It has been fixed properly with tape now.
Evernal. There are only about 7 of these fans in the building and they are the newest. They all replace some of the Relites (both models), except 1 (the one in the photo) which was added, where there was no fan.
To see better images of the department store's fans, go to Google Maps, and in Malta search for "JB stores". Select the one located in Iklin. There are photo spheres of the interior of the store (which I used to get these images). There are also some unrelated photo spheres and photos of the products they sell.
