I know Walmart isn't exactly known for quality ceiling fans. But I've noticed they've started selling Honeywell ceiling fans in stores. I was wondering if they're any better than Mainstays or Aloha Breeze (what they used to sell).

Funny you mention Honeywell ceiling fans,, I was just discussing with Jean how they don't exist over here to my knowledge.. While I typically don't go to WalMart I may have to just to take a look at these.. Unfortunately I know nothing about them, but since they do make reasonable quality other products I imagine their ceiling fans probably aren't horrible..

Yeah I have a lot of them over at my Walmart. I believe my Walmart has not only Honeywell ceiling fans and some other brand. Not entirely sure what the other brand is. I'll have to get a look at them sometime. Haven't been down their fan isle in a while. I too wouldn't imagine they'd be horrible. I have at least 2 desk fans from them and a floor fan, they're great air movers. But considering it was a ceiling fan sold at Walmart I was iffy. Especially sense I haven't tried them out myself. They have some traditional looking designs which I really like.

I have a few Honeywell air filters, and they've all been going strong for a few years now..

They'll be pictures of them from the box though sense my Walmart removed their ceiling fan display years ago. Yeah Honeywell seems to be pretty good but I bought one my desk fans from them in 2008, then I bought another one last summer. They used less plastic on the newer model making it fairly flimsy. So it seems as though they're getting cheaper to me. Which is one of the main things that made me wonder about their ceiling fans.

The two air filters I have are still pretty sturdy,, however fans are much cheaper than air filters.. I wouldn't be surprised if they're getting cheaper than they used to be.. Who isn't?

Very true, seems as though everything is going down in quality. Especially fans, any kind of fan nowadays is super light and can't even handle a feather falling on it, while a vintage fan is heavy and can withstand a lot.

I find that to be the case with pretty much everything.. that and often you buy something and its either fully not working or partially defective right out of the box.. absolutely ridiculous.

I really hope it stops going this way, I bought a Hampton Bay Altura, you should have felt how cheap the blades were. I swear if that fan could spin any faster the blades would snap off simply from the air. I'm quite tired of products getting lower and lower in quality and yet higher and higher in price.

That is a bit more modern than my style preference leans towards, but it is a decent looking fan..

My uncle has a 68" Altura (not sure if there's a difference in the quality between the two sizes, and/or what size you have).. He installed it himself so I've never handled the blades, but I've used it a number of times and I quite like it.. It moves a ton of air and is very quiet.. The Altura is another fan I believe to be made by King of Fans, which is the same company that makes the Huntington.. Apparently they just don't know how to make blades..

I don't so either, but it's nice to dream I guess. I have the the 68" Altura. Yes it is a very nice fan I'm not saying it's not. I quite enjoy the one I have. Works great in both the summer and winter. It's just the blades were made very cheap if you ask me. Granted they do overall function well. I've had mine for about a year now with no issues (hope this luck continues sense mine is installed on a high ceiling, the last thing I want is to have to fix it or replace it) Yes it seems as though that's the case. Well at least the Altura blades don't droop at all.

Mine is used quite often, it's great for pushing air down in the winter and circulating cool air in the summer. It was definitely a good choice for its location. I hope mine has just as good of luck as his does. I just hate that with the remote you can't shut the fan off and reverse it easily.

He got it for the purpose of reclaiming the heat in that room.. it runs continuously during the winter on reverse and occasionally during the summer on downdraft.. With the way the blades are I can't imagine it moves that much air on reverse, but he said it works more effectively on reverse than it does on forward..
