It span about 250 RPMs when I put 2 blades on, and 160 RPMs when I put all 4 blades on.

It appears to be spinning about 180 RPMs now. Also, I balanced it so it doesn't wobble nearly as much.

Did you do change anything?
You should consider getting a tachometer to measure it more precisely.

I didn't change anything, I used the camera to measure RPMs.

How did you do that?

Strobe effect It's like 60(frames or strobes per second)/(number of blades it appears) + 60n(frames or strobes per second)/(number of blades it actually has) For example, if a 30 FPS video makes a 5 blade fan look like it has 10 blades, not moving, it's (60)(30)/(10), which is 180 RPMs, unless it can actually spin 540 RPMs or faster. If that same camera makes it look like a 10 blade fan going 5 RPMs forward, it's 185 RPMs forward or 175 RPMs reverse, unless it can spin more than 500 RPMs.

I don't understand the math there, but if it seems to work for you, go with it...

There's many ways to count RPMS with a camera.. You can even count if the fan has a slight wobble to the rhythm..

Mark has a program on his cellphone which uses the camera to count RPMs, I've been meaning to download it myself and give it a try.

Adam D. Is the capacitor value on your SMC Laguna 13uf, lower, or higher?

don't know... will have to look.. Yeah, it would be good if you can help me. I wonder if SMC Laguna that spin faster than mine has different value capacitor.
