I have the yellows connected from cap and motor and on side of reverse switch, and the red from motor to the other side of cap and reverse switch.. There's still the black line in from AC, black line on cap, and the black wire from motor.. Than there are the two wires from the rotary switch.. I have the white lead coming in from AC to the middle lead on reverse switch assuming that is where it's suppose to go.. I think rotary switch is for three speeds, or at least it has three positions which one may be an off position.. If it's the same as your Evergo Emperor than the wiring is probably the same..

The rotary switch needs 3 wires. One must be missing.
If you're getting a dead short, you didnt hook it the way I suggested . . . I'll try to paint a schematic.

I just edited my post above.. The rotary switch has many terminals to solder wires too, it's probably missing the lead, because I'm not getting continuity out of the two wires

The rotary switch should behave like any 3 speed 2 wire switch, or a 3 way light pullchain-- in other words, 1, 2, 1+2. You can get a rotary switch at the hardware store that will work, but it will have an off position.

There isn't a pullswitch, if it works the way I think it does, the pullswitch would be off/on and the rotary knob would be high/med/low

The pullswitch also reverses the fan. That's why it needs to be 2 speed aka L-1-2.

Nevermind, I saw it has a reverse switch as well. Let me re-draw the schematic.

Actually just replace the 2 speed pullchain with the reverse switch. Hot goes to the center, red and yellow to the sides.

I was going to say... Three leads are coming off the reverse switch.. Tan colored Bananafan has the white from AC line connected to the middle of the reverse switch (in between two leads).. that fan has a two wire one value cap and is meant to use the variable speed pullswitch

You can switch hot and neutral it wont change anything. Usually I prefer to switch the hot.

I would need some kind of diagram or some visual of something wired the same the find out where everything goes.. Your Evergo Emperor is probably a match.. Would need to see the leads on the speed control and which ones have wires connected...

What do you need that's not on the diagram I made above?
The Emperor you reference is now in the museum in Indiana.

I would need the pinout on the speed control knob that the leads are hooked into, a few of them are jumpered with wires and that's probably how it's suppose to be and a visual how the reverse switch with 3 leads is hooked up.. Diagram you wrote out is only showing speed switches, No reverse, and if I can't get the wires on the speed switch right, I'm not going to get this thing working right..

As I said, wire the reverse switch where I have the pullchain. Red and yellow to the outside contacts, AC hot (or neutral) to the inside. The speed switch you will have to figure out with a meter. It shouldnt be hard.
