Yesterday someone that saw my Kijiji ad for four metal curved blade 4 Saisons fans called me saying that they have three or four NIB new old stock 4 Saisons metal blade fans for sale. The vendor prefered to come to my place to show them to me instead of sending picture and said it was okay if I didn't buy any. He didn't mind making the trip at all. Apparently it was more trouble to send pictures. I asked many times if they really have four blades like on the picture in my ad and not three and he said yes. It turns out the fans were a newer 4 Saisons model with three metal straight blades. I almost wasn't surprised that it wasn't exactly what I wanted because with people not into fans a lot of the fans look all the same to them.
They are still pretty cool models, especially considering they were never used with the original long and narrow 4 Saisons box. I almost bought one but I end up not getting it because I thought that's it's not a good idea to buy something that I will not really like and buy it just because it's cool, NIB and the person happens to be physically there.
I'm glad this happened because it made me discover new infos about 4 Saisons and clarify doubts I previously had. The fans were exactly like these that I post in my sightings thread in August 2013. I had seen two different ones on Kijiji where we could see the top of the motor and they have a big yellow and blue sticker on top of it. At first when I saw this I was very surprised because it's very different from what 4 Saisons offered between 1980 to 1987. It's not the same part supplier. The only different makes I discovered recently are from Hong Kong prior to 1980 but during the 1980's their fans were all made in Taiwan by the same makers even the last ones around 1987.
Theses fans have the old swirl logo that was used from the moment the company started until 1985. I'm surprised theses fans can be as old as 1985 but it now explains some things. I used to see theses fans much more often in the 1990's and in the early to mid 2000's many were removed as if they were an old type of fans that people did not wanted anymore. I never thought of them as something from the 1980's.
I like the motor they used. It's the same as on TMT fans but I'm really not very much into three metal straight blade fans. I told Philippe about them but he wasn't interested either.
Here are some extra pictures I saved from Kijiji of two different smaller ones. The vendor has large 140 cm models.
90 cm, the blue sticker looks like the same as on TMT fans.
This one looks 120 cm
The sticker set up is very odd. A big colorful decorative sticker on top of the motor that is normally used for lower canopies and not the regular technical 4 Saisons sticker. The warning sticker is also pretty different. A regular 1980-1987 Taiwan made 4 Saisons would have a sticker setup like this. The big rectangular shape 4 Saisons technical sticker with the date code that is often black and gold but can also be silver and blue or orange and gold, a white paper non glossy sticker for the warning/attention and a very small gold sticker that say that it's made in Taiwan ROC.
