Some friends of mine just built a new home and I offered to supply them with vintage ceiling fans. Luckily, they took me up on the offer, bought the fans. Now they have stylish and durable vintage ceiling fans in their home, instead of new Harbor Breeze or Hampton Bay junk. White Emerson 1895 52" with Gloss White blades. This is in the living room, has an 8 inch downrod, and a new nickel light kit. It was made between 1984-1986. mashburn 001 by perfectjazz78, on Flickr mashburn 003 by perfectjazz78, on Flickr mashburn 002 by perfectjazz78, on Flickr A 48" Antique Brass Hunter Summer Breeze from 1986. Nice installs and I'm happy your friends took you up on your offer! That brushed nickel light kit actually looks pretty good on that white 1895! (:

1895 looks GREAT!. I would consider a different light kit, or at least painting that one.

1895 looks GREAT!. I would consider a different light kit, or at least painting that one. Yep, I agree. I told the homeowner to pick a white light kit but she wanted a brushed nickel one to go with the rest of her fixtures in the open plan dining and kitchen and her stainless steel appliances. My biggest surprise was how nice the Summer Breeze worked out. That turned out to be my favorite fan, even over the 1895. Also could not install originals due to junction boxes and my lack of desire to mess with the new construction by removing them. Plus they wanted electrically reversible fans and would not appreciate originals properly. Lastly, they weren't paying me enough for originals. I did this as a favor anyway and basically broke even on the fans.
