Just bough a home wit a Allen & Roth Santa Ana installed in kitchen. Wife LOVES it...BUT - the previous owners must have been 5 feet tall cuz the blades are VERY low, almost dangerously so (I'm 6 feet and they miss the top of my head by a fraction of an inch!)... So I figured I'd remove the extension rod and flush mount it, but that doesn't appear to be an option (no mention of it in manual and doesn't seem to be any way to do it... So I thought maybe there are shorter blades out there somewhere but I've searched in vain... Any thoughts?

If the canopy doesn't have holes nut the motor housing does, you can use a different canopy. My Hampton Bay Metarie has the two-holed canopy but no flush mount option, but it would if I added a different canopy (I decided to mount it with the standard down rod on an 8' ceiling). If the top of the motor housing has no holes for flush mounting, you're out of luck, unfortunately, and you'll have to switch it out for a flush mount fan, or at least one that has a flush mounting option. Unfortunately an owner's manual isn't available on Lowes's website, so I can't see if it says anything.

I would contact the manufacturer. They may have a shorter downrod option for you.
