I noticed that quite a few people have been looking for switch housing wiring diagrams for Hunter Original fans without success, so I've attached one here. This is for a 1993-2001 (made in USA) 3 speed Hunter Original fan with a 2.0 AMP motor and a 7.5 MFD (2 wire) capacitor located underneath the top of the motor case. I hope this will be of use to those who need it. Comments welcome.

Happy to help. I'm an electrical engineer (retired) and I enjoy rebuilding Hunter Originals as a hobby. Believe it of not, my favorites are 3 speed Originals made in USA from 1993 to 2001 with 2.0 amp motors. IMHO, this was a time when Hunter fan's were technologically at their peak and still made in the USA. Even the paint was higher quality on these fans than some of the older ones.
I should also mention that this wiring diagram assumes that you're using an Original DPDT reversing switch with internal crossover connections (see photo). If you are using an aftermarket DPDT switch without crossover, you must jump the white and red wires on the switch externally; white to white/red to red (see photo).

I agree and would also include the 1980s ones with the 4 blade only rotor, but the PSC 3 speed motor.

I absolutely agree with you, but then again I love all Hunter Original fans. I was disappointed when Hunter started making the 4/5 bladed fans in the mid 90's, so I never use the 5th blade on those fans. 4 blades look better and actually are more efficient than 5. My only problem with the mid to late 80's fans with the PSC motors were that they were only 1.1 amps. The early 80's fans were 2.5 amps, but were not PSC. That's why I like the 2.0 amp PSC motors of the 90's so much. Just a good combination of the best that Hunter had to offer at a time just before they outsourced production to Asia. Not crazy about the current Chinese Intertek, 1.0 amp, Energy Star rated motors, but I'd still take one of those over most other types of new ceiling fans on the market. Surprisingly, the new Hunter Originals are still well crafted and fairly true to the Original design, which is why many of the parts are interchangeable with older models.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me Dan. As you can tell, I enjoy discussing anything related to Hunter Original fans and have learned a lot from reading your posts (as well as others) on this forum. Hope I can contribute as well.

I have an old Hunter Original 4 blade that I found in the trash. It does not have a direction switch anywhere on the fan and only runs in reverse. Is it possible to change the motor rotation on these fans so the air blows down instead of up? I have restored several hunter original fans and have a decent amount of mechanical/electrical knowledge. Thanks for any suggestions!

If it only runs one way, then it blows down, unless the blades reverse mechanically. A pic would help.

Hello, I'm new to all of this, but not to hunter originals. I have 7 in my house, basically one in every room. I'm trying to get one going that's been sitting in a cupboard for years. It's model # is 25577, 1.1amp. This is a low profile original that I've adapted to accept a drop tube. My problem is that I have only 2 speeds, the first 2 when going through the cycle. The 3rd just hums. The 4th pull is off. The switch is L- black, 1-red, 2-yellow and 3-grey. The cap tests ok at 7.3. The resistance on red is 85, yellow is 62.7 and grey 20.8. I think I read that the 2nd switch position is a combined 2-3 and that checks out. Wondering what to check next. I also don't seem to view posted diagrams. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Lanshk
