Looking for a replacement remote for a SMC Remocon ll, model # RC-118. The one I have works as long as I have it 12" away from the receiver. Has a new battery but does not seem to have the signal strength needed. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Vid

Welcome to the forum! Do you have any pictures of the fan? That will help us determine what replacement you'll need.

Beautiful fan! It sounds like you might need to clean the lens on the fan's switch housing (shown in picture three). If that doesn't work, try the lens on the remote control itself.

Already tried that. What about a replacement remote? Thanks!

Seeing how it's electronic maybe you can take it down to your local TV repair shop.. Sounds like there could possibly be some weak caps in the remote.. but then again the problem could be in either the transmitter or receiver end, which means you may need to take down the fan and take the motor also..
I've never seen an ornate A52 that's remote controlled... Quite neat..

I'd personally go with Adam's advice. Also, I'm just curious. Where are you getting Remocon II from? Seeing how it's electronic maybe you can take it down to your local TV repair shop.. Sounds like there could possibly be some weak caps in the remote.. but then again the problem could be in either the transmitter or receiver end, which means you may need to take down the fan and take the motor also.. Did you add a light kit to the fan in the last picture? if not, You could probably remove or disconnect the receiver, wire a capacitor to the motor to make it one (high) speed, and use a wall control. The downside to this is that it will make the fan non-reversible. You'll have to ask someone else how to wire the capacitor like this and what capacitor to use, I don't know much about this.
