I honestly don't know where to begin here. On one hand, I agree that Alex appears to do this a lot. He has a lot to learn. When I first started, I knew almost nothing about how a fan works. That changed with experience, and a few mistakes along the way. He is young, and I would argue that we ought to be more respectful in our tone towards him, while at the same time educating him on proper assembly/ disassembly, and knowing when to just send it to someone else to repair. We all get in over our heads from time to time, and the key is knowing where to go from there. To Alex: if you find yourself at that point, please contact a moderator or another member. We will be happy to assist. Just don't jump into a full disassembly without having a plan. I remember when I first started collecting, I got a beautiful Winco GE-vent fan from ReStore. I tried to spin the motor, but I had tightened all the screws for the blade brackets. What ended up happening is that the screws literally shredded the windings. But I LEARNED from my mistake. Alex clearly hasn't learned from any of his... I don't know what to say about this. For sure it's sad that he destroyed perfectly functionnal and very nice fans. But the saddest part is that money is involve in that. He got the homestead for 200$, i'm not sure that his parents are very happy. If his passion is to break fans, he could search in garbages to find fans for free or at habitat for 5-15$ Precisely. Alex, if you for whatever reason, you need to experiment, take apart and modify fans, do it with low-end Hampton Bay and Wal-Mart fans. Not quality vintage ones!!!

the latest update as of today : the remaing parts were received -- DAMAGED - CRUSHED AND TOTALLY A WRECK - PACKED HORRIBLY - IN A THIN WALLED BOX - WITH LITTLE TO NO - WRAPPING.
I WANTED TO TELL YOU !!! This was done after we have sent him a perfect - very nice working homestead motor , this was my payback for doing right , doing a nice thing and just trying to make this person happy.
I hope everyone here reads this and completely blocks this moron from the site and any of their ebay transaction , because as you now see - he will just destroy an excellent fan and then want to return it. THIS TRANSACTION IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE and I am certain all of you agree on this matter.

It really doesn't surprise me that this happened, and I feel sorry for the person who originally sold Alex the fan... Alex paid well over $200 for the fan and it was not something to mess around with. I definitely wouldn't sell him a fan, and I'm sure the seller wouldn't either.

VCF Staff, feel free to seek out whatever action suits the community and yourselves. I do have a simple request: can we PLEASE ban/suspend Alex on charges of fan abuse??

My seller has been on ebay for years -- he told me this one transaction is the WORST , MOST RIDICULOUS - WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY Transaction he has ever had to deal with ! That says a lot ... That and that he will no longer List and more of these type fans for me - which is fine as I had already decided that.. Hunter or High-End Casablanca or Antique Ceiling fans only , that sell repeatedly with no issues at all .

Why is everyone shocked? Everyone here has read Alex's threads, seen his pictures, and followed this saga. You really thought the fan was getting returned in good condition? He doused it with WD40 for God's sake!
My favorite saying: "You dont shoot a duck for quacking". If you know Alex and know what to expect, dont be mad at him when he quacks.

I've sold many many fans and never had an issue. I just dont concern myself with what happens to them after they arrive safely.
