I decided to make a thread a ceiling fan sighting thread. I know many of you prefer pictures, but I prefer videos, because they show the fan's performance, but it's just my opinion. Also, I make money out of videos. Some of the videos will contain pictures. Here are the videos I uploaded today: Friend's house, nothing special about these: Monte Carlo Sylist: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRsW3MjLa6MEncon Casanova(?) (contains a picture): www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh1BXuxLhewHarbor Breeze Bella Vista: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2apxoqtbp1sOcean City boardwalk: 4 Hunter Eastern Shores www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUaaz_w_K30These fans are not in very good shape. The blades are sagging. The first one is missing a chain and is stuck on high speed. The last 2 wobble badly on high. The first 2 spin a bit slow on high, but I think I saw a video of Hunter Eastern Shore spinning slower on high, but that was like 2 years ago. They might took these fans because the blades made it look like an outdoor fan, but it's really an indoor fan. The 3rd one had the reverse switch between but I fixed that.

It's very hard to see the fans in your videos.

It's very hard to see the fans in your videos. Yeah, the first 3 listed in this thread. It was dark out and it didn't have any other light source.

I agree, it's a waist of cyber space.. I think Youtube needs to start selecting what videos are excepted.. Too many videos on Youtube that are completely pointless, ceiling fan related or not.. If you are going to do videos, you need to know how to point n shoot.. Second of all as Andrew said.. You take videos are "Everything".. Most ceiling fans on your channel are ceiling fans that aren't worth anything nor will ever be anything that of' collector's items.. No one is interested in these types of fans.. I think if you want more respect amongst the Vintage Ceiling Fan community, maybe you should start taking more interest in Vintage Ceiling Fans.. Other than that you are known as going over to friend's houses and taking videos of their ceiling fans they recently purchased at Home Depot or Lowes..

Jonathan, please tone it down. If you're going to do videos instead of pictures you need high quality videos. I prefer pictures, as do most people. I always try to make high quality videos, but it's not possible in some locations (for example, the room is dark and the fan light is the only light source.) And I sometimes take pictures too, and insert it in a video.

Yeah, I always try to make videos of high quality fans. On my channel, I make playlists for Hunter Original, Casablanca, Emerson (including fans with Emerson motor), Fanimation, and ceiling fans with stack motor to make it easier for users to browse videos of high quality fans.

Jonathan, don't take this the wrong way but you get your feelings hurt way too easily. There are a lot more important things in life than whether someone likes or doesn't like your photo or video of a generic ceiling fan.
That said, there are also too many people that overreact to his posts.

It doesn't hurt me when someone doesn't like my video of generic ceiling fan, what really hurts me is when someone acts like his opinion is a fact.

Here's more. Not vintage but not too cheap either. Here are the videos of 4 Modern Fan Co. Ball Hugger I found in gym. Each set of 2 controlled by a Lutron Rotary solid state speed control: www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9Dt3pY52TYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=LfChghW-0XQAnd for some who had not seen before, here are the video of 3 42" Modern Fan Co. Ball I found in health club. Neither of them spin fast or blow good amount of air. Even worse, they are controlled by a Lutron dimmer made for lights: www.youtube.com/watch?v=A51q43LZ9WUWhen I first saw them, they were on maximum speed. When I checked the switch, I thought it was a solid state speed control set to minimum setting, but when I turned it, they slowed down. It's surprising to see all 3 fans with bad capacitors. Vintage/high quality ceiling fans are more likely to be in pictures, while newer/low quality ceiling fans are more likely to be in videos only.
