When I was at Home Depot I was looking at the fans and saw that they do still sell those Graytons and the Landmark III, which look like the older Landmarks from my church but the ones now have no cane of course and the blade shape is different.
I also see that they sell the Hunter Eastern Shore for $99 in white. This looks like the Passport III that my neighbor had, which in my opinion is a good fan. Hers runs 24 hours a day constantly since late 2004. But this model comes in white only and has beadboard blades. Is it a good choice compared to the others? They also have the Original Archive with the globe light kit, but it's way too expensive, IMO.

Interesting, the Home Depot here doesnt have this selection of fans. No Originals at all, actually.

i'm not a big fan of hunter originals(they are good fans of air moving) but the problem is in my opinion is they are way TOO heavy(heavier than ALL my fans i got(including my hunter passport III) and i'm afraid that it will fall(cause a friend of mine got stiches on his head all due to a ceiling fan fell on him)...
and my apartment does NOT have those little (silver type) boxes (sturdy kind that can hold heavier things such as hunter originals),it just came with plastic ones.
my aunt had a 1980s original and she gave it to grandma and she install it in her son's(my uncle) room and i slept in that room when i spend a night there those times & i use that original fan and i loved it,but my passport III does the equal same amout of air(but not as heavy which i perfer passport III so less likely it will fall)

NO fan should be attached to a plastic box. Even the lightest fan can vibrate itself loose and fall. Use metal boxes, particularly the fan rated type when possible. Or screw the fan directly to a stud with 1.5" (or longer) wood or drywall screws.

If they're not steel, they're not safe.

Whoa Jeremy I hope for you that all your electrical boxes are made of galvanized steel. I agree with Dan on the electrical boxes.
Usually plastic boxes are made for damp/wet locations.
When we install my Craftmade Decorative (that is heavier than my Encon Princess), I was worried about my simple galvanized steel box that would not be enough but my father asked to a electrician about those safety ceiling fans/heavy fixtures electrical boxes and he said that its only applicable in the USA not in Canada. Anyway my box is screw into a big wood beam and what we did to be sure is that we added another screw to it. And the safety cable is also screw to the wood beam.

Plastic boxes are used commonly indoors in the US to save money. I dont like them, I prefer all metal.
I too use non-fan-rated metal boxes and brackets for ceiling fans. It's illegal but perfectly safe for the types of boxes and brackets I use. The fan-rated ones have more redundancies built in.
