Well it's official - I finally own a vintage box fan! Pretty exciting! This was actually a birthday gift from my parents (my birthday was last Monday), but I haven't got around to posting it until today. Not much of surprise since I found the listing on eBay and asked for it, but I was very pleased when I got it. ;D Anyway, it's a 12" Eskimo box fan, made by McGraw-Edison. It's a three speed fan, and its model number is 12106. I'm guessing it's from the 1960s. It's all metal except for the handle and speed selector knob, both of which are original to my knowledge. ;D The fan was FILTHY when I got it - the inside was just FULL of cobwebs, dust, and other debris. I cleaned it out yesterday and wiped the blades and grilles down. Looks pretty good now! Despite the dust, the fan ran perfectly as is - I gave it a shot of oil just in case though. Anyway, here are the pics! Knob and "Eskimo" logo: Backside: Shiny blades : The inside of the fan is a bit rusty on the bottom. Perhaps it was used in a window during a rainstorm, and the rainwater rusted it slightly. No big deal though. On : Video ;D : Enjoy!

Ahhhhh! Wow! I love theses. I would like to find one too. They are sooo cute! I love the four metal rounded blades. It's a 12 incher and it's got 3-speeds. Lucky you. Often theses smaller 1960s box fans can have only two speeds or just on/off.
I watched the video. It's very powerful. I just don't like how fast it is on low but still awesome fan. Happy birthday late.

Happy birthday late. Glad you like it! I've always thought that these little box fans were pretty neat. I agree - it seems like 12 inch box fans are usually 2 or 1-speed. Yeah, the low is pretty fast. At least it still pushes some decent air.

These are great fans, especially if you get a single speed model and add a solid-state speed controller.

Great fan, I love these things. Really hope to find one someday myself.
