Have any of you found any fans in the trash lately? All I seem to find is crappy bottom mount spinners and builder fans. Yesterday someone threw out a 36 or 42 inch spinner. White with gold trim and a dome light with ribbed glass. I think it was an Encon. I didn't want it, but I picked up the mounting bracket that was with it for my Grayton I. I used to see lots of good fans: a Blenderfan, a set of 2 American Spirit outdoor fans, a 5 blade can GE vent fan, a 4 blade GE vent fan and a Summer Breeze. I wish I had picked them up, then I could've had a real collection.

BTW, I'm thinking of getting a meter maid mobile to ride on for trash nights to find some treasures. They get good gas mileage and has a nice bed to put stuff on. I could call it the fan mobile. Can you tell I have little to do with my time?

I picked up an SMC F52 yesterday at an illegal dump site, but two of the blades were broken and a lot of it was rusty. The motor was stuck, which I eventually freed with like half a can of WD-40 but I couldn't get it to spin on its own power. So basically I salvaged a motor housing, some brackets, and three glass fittings from the light kit.

A couple of years ago, I found an antique brass Hunter Original next to a dumpster behind a grocery store, of all places. Great shape, just missing one blade. I remember pulling around back in my car, and my shock when spotting that original! It was being cooked in the summer heat, but got to cool off in my trunk.

Because we rent and we will not be living here forever, and if we have to move, all I gotta do is hitch it up and drive off....

Brian posted two messages, one about getting a pod storage unit. He must have deleted his messages.

Just recently, spring pickup hit our area and I drove around all last night looking for fans, but managed to come across one. Someone had thrown out what appeared to resemble a Hampton Bay Waterton (white w/black accents) but this one had 4 pointed blades with traditional blade arms. I yanked it out of the pile and took it home with me.
