There a long complicated story behind this fan. I should have got it a lot earlier than that. Just got it today but I should have got it like last October. It was on Kijiji Montréal last fall and the person wanted too much IMO (40$) for it but she said that she would put it back on MTL Kijiji in spring 2010 for half of the price she wanted. It was back in early May and I emailed them to show them that I wanted it but for half of the price like she previously said but she said that she would prefer to sell it to someone else rather than low down the price to sell it to me. Anyway I been able to managed something out with Philippe (THANK YOU SO MUCH PHILIPPE!) and I GOT IT!
Are theses rare?? And does anybody have an idea of the age of those. The closest thing to a date I could find on it is 83 in the serial number. The funny thing is that the lady who owned it said she got NIB as a gift in 1990 and it cost almost 100$ Is this possible?
I understand why she wanted to sell it for 40$. The thing is in super clean almost like new condition! She took very good care of it. She said that she cleaned it every season before storing it away for the autumn. She is like me, she is a clean freak. ;D
Its the cleanest used fan I got so far.
The blades are also immaculate and the chrome push buttons and chrome grill is still very shiny and not tarnished yet. The blue metal panel at the bottom have almost no scratches. Usually theses panels gets scratch a lot.
It works super WELL! I love the speeds. On low its very slow and you hear almost nothing from it. PERFECT to sleep. On medium it gets louder and blows tons of air. There a big difference between the low and med. On high is INSANE! It blows everything across the room. I don't think I ever saw a fan with a such STRONG draft!
Another really cool thing about it that I love is that the oscillation is slow on it. I always thought that most of fans oscillates too fast. It have a really wide oscillation too. Wider than most of other fans I've seen.
Something interesting I found on it is that on the ring that locks the back grill to the motor and the knob in the middle of the blades that locks the blades to the shaft it say lock with an arrow and unlock on the other side but it also says it in Hiragana!!!!! ;D That thing is truly Japanese!
Of course it does says TOKYO, JAPAN under the base.
Japanese desk fans are awesome! I think they are some of the quietest fans of the history of portable fans.
